David Brown (Madison, WI) lost 6-4 to Minnesota's Pete Fenson in the Final of the Laphroaig Scotch Open, held December 2 - 4, 2011 at the Madison Curling Club in McFarland, United States. To advance to the championship game, Brown won 6-4 over Scott Bitz (Regina, SK) in the semifinals of the 2011 Laphroaig Scotch Open in McFarland, Wisconsin, United States; and won 6-5 over Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN) in the quarterfinals.
 
Brown finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brown defeated Wisconsin's John Benton 4-3, then won 4-3 against Bitz and 5-4 against New York's Brandon Corbett in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Laphroaig Scotch Open, Brown take home 2.625 world rankings points along with the $2,034CDN prize. For week 16 of the event schedule, Brown did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Brown ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
