In their opening game, Lawton defeated Rachel Fritzler (Saskatoon, SK) 9-6, then won 8-3 against Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni and 10-4 against Delia DeJong (Grande Prairie, AB). Lawton went on to lose 8-7 against Switzerland's Mirjam Ott. Lawton responded with a 6-2 win over Candace Chisholm (Estevan, SK). Lawton won 6-4 against Valerie Sweeting (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
