Valerie Sweeting (Edmonton, AB) lost 6-5 to Crystal Webster (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Colonial Square Ladies Classic, held October 28 - 31, 2011 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Sweeting won 6-3 over Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2011 Colonial Square Ladies Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and won 7-5 over Bingyu Wang (Harbin, CHN) in the quarterfinals.
 
Sweeting finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sweeting defeated Jill Shumay (Saskatoon, SK) 7-5, then won 8-4 against Trish Paulsen (Saskatoon, SK). Sweeting went on to lose 8-2 against Switzerland's Mirjam Ott. Sweeting responded with a 5-4 win over Janet Harvey (Winnipeg, MB). Sweeting won 8-4 against Jolene Campbell (Humboldt, SK). Sweeting went on to lose 6-4 against Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK). Sweeting responded with a 5-2 win over Lisa Eyamie (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Colonial Square Ladies Classic, Sweeting take home 18.990 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, moving up 6 spots the World Ranking Standings into 23rd place overall with 61.167 total points. Sweeting ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 38.080 points earned so far this season.
