Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB) run at the 2011 Point Optical Curling Classic came to an end in the semifinals with a 7-4 loss to Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB). of the 2011 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; Petryk advanced through the quarterfinals with a 8-7 win over Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB).
 
Petryk finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Petryk defeated Darrell McKee (Saskatoon, SK) 5-3, then went on to lose 4-2 against Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB). Petryk responded with a 6-4 win over Gerry Adam (Yorkton, SK). Petryk won 6-1 against Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB), then won 6-3 against Chris Galbraith (Winnipeg, MB). Petryk went on to lose 8-6 against Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB). Petryk responded with a 6-5 win over Braeden Moskowy (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Petryk earned 20.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Point Optical Curling Classic, moving up 12 spots the World Ranking Standings into 24th place overall with 57.040 total points. Petryk ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 20.000 points earned so far this season.
