Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) won 6-5 over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Point Optical Curling Classic, held September 23 - 26, 2011 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Canada. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 9-8 over Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2011 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and won 5-4 over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada;
 
McEwen finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK) 8-4, then won 6-4 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) and 5-2 against Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB). McEwen won 7-3 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Point Optical Curling Classic Championship title, McEwen earned 35.000 world rankings points along with the $15,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 273.320 total points. McEwen ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 35.000 points earned so far this season.
