Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) won 5-3 over Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Canad Inns Prairie Classic, held October 21 - 24, 2011 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage La Prairie, Canada. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 6-2 over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2011 Canad Inns Prairie Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada; and won 7-4 over Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.
 
McEwen finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Randy Neufeld (LaSalle, MB) 6-4, then won 7-1 against David Hamblin (Morris, MB). McEwen went on to lose 7-6 against Brock Virtue (Calgary, AB). McEwen responded with a 7-2 win over Scott Ramsay (Winnipeg, MB). McEwen won 7-2 against Grassie. McEwen went on to lose 8-4 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). McEwen responded with a 5-4 win over Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Canad Inns Prairie Classic Championship title, McEwen earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 1st place overall with 333.030 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 94.710 points earned so far this season.
