Liu responded with a 6-3 win over Alberta's Jamie King. Liu went on to lose 7-6 against Steve Petryk (Calgary, YK) in their final qualifying round match.

Liu earned 5.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 38th place overall with 48.791 total points. Liu ranks 31st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 19.925 points earned so far this season.
