To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 6-5 over Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2011 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta; and won 5-4 over Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;
 
McEwen finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Albert Gerdung (Brooks, AB) 6-2, then won 7-5 against Braeden Moskowy (Regina, SK) and 7-0 against Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Cactus Pheasant Classic Championship title, McEwen earned 35.000 world rankings points along with the $22,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 11 of the event schedule, McEwen did not improve upon their best events, dropping from 283rd to 286th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 1.168 total points. McEwen ranks 611th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 0.000 points earned so far this season.
