Uusipaavalniemi lost 6-5 to Jon Rennie (Calgary, AB) where Uusipaavalniemi responded with a 6-4 win over Alberta's Tom Appelman. Uusipaavalniemi went on to lose 7-3 against Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
