Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) qualified for the 2011 Cactus Pheasant Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2011 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;

Cotter finished 5-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cotter lost 8-6 to Alberta's Tom Appelman, then responded with a 7-6 win over Dean Ross (Calgary, AB). Cotter won 7-4 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Cotter went on to lose 6-2 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Cotter responded with a 4-2 win over Claudio Pescia (St. Gallen, SUI). Cotter won 7-3 against Markku Uusipaavalniemi (Helsinki, FIN), then won 5-3 against Jon Rennie (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
