Kurtis Bryd (Thunder Bay, ON) finished 2-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bryd defeated Chris Briand (Thunder Bay, NONT) 6-4, then went on to lose 7-1 against Wisconsin's Craig Brown. Bryd lost 7-5 to Mark Haluptzok (Bemidji, MN) where Bryd responded with a 5-3 win over Northern Ontario's Eric Harnden. Bryd went on to lose 7-4 against Minnesota's Pete Fenson in their final qualifying round match.
