Howard finished 4-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Howard defeated Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) 5-3, then won 7-3 against Epping. Howard went on to lose 8-5 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB). Howard responded with a 5-1 win over Mark Kean (Toronto, ON). Howard won 3-2 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the GP Car and Home World Cup of Curling Championship title, Howard earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $24,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 3rd place overall with 292.483 total points. Howard ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 97.270 points earned so far this season.
