Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) lost 5-2 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the BDO Canadian Open, held December 14 - 18, 2011 in Kingston, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Stoughton won 8-6 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the semifinals of the 2011 BDO Canadian Open in Kingston, Ontario; and won 5-2 over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 BDO Canadian Open in Kingston, Ontario;
 
Stoughton finished 4-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stoughton defeated Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) 6-5, then won 10-4 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) and 7-6 against Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC). Stoughton won 9-4 against Dale Matchett (Bradford, ON). Stoughton went on to lose 8-6 against Howard in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the BDO Canadian Open, Stoughton take home 27.000 world rankings points along with the $15,000CDN prize, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 344.030 total points. Stoughton ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 117.820 points earned so far this season.
