Randie Shen (Taipei City, CTP) finished 2-3 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shen lost 6-3 to Stan Boone (Kamloops, BC), then responded with a 9-2 win over Sebastien Robillard (Vancouver, BC). Shen won 7-3 against British Columbia's Tyler Klymchuk. Shen went on to lose 8-1 against Japan's Makato Tsuruga. Shen lost 4-3 to Robillard in their final qualifying round match.
