Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) run at the 2012 Mercure Perth Masters came to an end in the semifinals with a 9-1 loss to Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). of the 2012 Mercure Perth Masters in Perth, Scotland; Laycock advanced through the quarterfinals with a 6-2 win over Claudio Pescia (St. Gallen, SUI).
 
Laycock finished 4-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Laycock defeated Scotland's Kyle Smith 6-5, then went on to lose 4-3 against David Edwards (Aberdeen, SCO). Laycock lost 8-4 to Scotland's Graham Shaw where Laycock responded with a 8-5 win over David Sik (Prague, CZE). Laycock won 7-2 against John Hamilton (Edinburgh, SCO), then won 6-2 against Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Laycock earned 13.300 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Mercure Perth Masters.
