David Sik (Prague, CZE) finished 1-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sik lost 7-4 to David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO), droppimg another game, 7-1 to Scotland's Sandy Reid where Sik responded with a 7-6 win over Allan Chalmers (Perth, SCO). Sik went on to lose 8-5 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
