Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) lost 6-2 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the Mercure Perth Masters, held January 5 - 8, 2012 in Perth, Scotland. To advance to the championship game, Ulsrud won 9-1 over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2012 Mercure Perth Masters in Perth, Scotland; and won 5-3 over Scotland's Graham Shaw in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Mercure Perth Masters in Perth, Scotland;
 
Ulsrud finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ulsrud defeated Scotland's Craig Reid 7-2, then won 4-2 against Scotland's Ewan MacDonald. Ulsrud went on to lose 8-6 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL). Ulsrud responded with a 8-4 win over Logan Gray (Stirling, SCO). Ulsrud won 5-1 against Scotland's Kyle Smith, then won 6-5 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Mercure Perth Masters, Ulsrud take home 17.100 world rankings points along with the $5,839CDN prize, remaining in 7th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 202.512 total points.
