Birr finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birr defeated Northern Ontario's Trevor Bonot 8-6, then won 10-2 against Minnesota's Dan Ruehl and 4-2 against Minnesota's Josh Bahr. Birr won 6-4 against Ryan Berg (West Fargo, ND). Birr went on to lose 7-4 against Al Hackner (Thunder Bay, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Curl Mesabi Cash Spiel, Birr take home 3.150 world rankings points along with the $3,122CDN prize, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 67th place overall with 31.075 total points.
