Brown finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brown defeated Jason Smith (Ft. Myers, FL) 4-3, then won 6-1 against Tom Scott (Hibbing, MN) and 5-1 against Minnesota's Peter Stolt. Brown went on to lose 7-6 against Paul Pustovar (Hibbing, MN). Brown responded with a 7-3 win over Northern Ontario's Bryan Burgess in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Curl Mesabi Cash Spiel Championship title, Brown earned 4.500 world rankings points along with the $5,204CDN first prize cheque, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 77th place overall with 26.218 total points.
