Mike Assad (Thunder Bay, ON) qualified for the 2011 Kia Curling Classic Superspiel playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 9-7 against Ben Mikkelsen (Thunder Bay, ON). of the 2011 Kia Curling Classic Superspiel in Sault Ste.Marie, Ontario, Canada;

Assad finished 3-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Assad defeated Devon Parry (Sudbury, ON) 7-2, then went on to lose 8-0 against Ontario's Mike Jakubo. Assad responded with a 5-4 win over Wisconsin's John Benton. Assad won 6-1 against Northern Ontario's Trevor Bonot in their final qualifying round match.
