Howard Rajala (Ottawa, ON) lost 7-5 to Jean-Michel Menard (Gatineau/Levis, QC) in the Final of the Mac Ice Classic, held October 5 - 10, 2011 in Ottawa, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Rajala won 7-6 over Greg Richardson (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals of the 2011 Mac Ice Classic in Ottawa, Ontario; and won 5-4 over Mathew Camm (Ottawa, ON) in the quarterfinals.
 
Rajala finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Rajala defeated Don Westphal (Thurso, QC) 5-4, then won 5-2 against Willie Jeffries (Ottawa, ON) and 5-3 against Ian MacAulay (Ottawa, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Mac Ice Classic, Rajala take home 7.000 world rankings points along with the $4,000CDN prize, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 40th place overall with 40.310 total points. Rajala ranks 50th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 7.000 points earned so far this season.
