Laura Payne (Ottawa, ON) lost 5-3 to Jenn Hanna (Ottawa, ON) in the Final of the Mac Ice Classic, held October 5 - 10, 2011 in Ottawa, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Payne won 8-7 over Ling-Yue Hung (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals
 
Payne finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Payne defeated Joyce Potter (Ottawa, ON) 8-2, then won 9-6 against Cheryl McBain (Ottawa, ON). Payne went on to lose 5-4 against Hanna. Payne lost 9-2 to Jamie Sinclair (Manotick, ON) where Payne responded with a 7-5 win over Jennifer Harvey (Ottawa, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Mac Ice Classic, Payne take home 1.750 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN prize, moving up 150 spots the World Ranking Standings into 174th place overall with 1.750 total points. Payne ranks 65th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.750 points earned so far this season.
