To advance to the championship game, King won 5-4 over Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2011 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; and won 7-0 over Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;
 
King finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, King defeated Jason Clarke (Victoria, BC) 7-3, then won 7-2 against Jay Wakefield (New Westminster, BC). King went on to lose 7-5 against Michel. King responded with a 8-5 win over Jody Epp (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Vancouver Island Shootout, King take home 2.800 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN prize, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 41st place overall with 44.618 total points. King ranks 26th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 30.650 points earned so far this season.
