To advance to the championship game, Virtue won 5-2 over Trevor Perepolkin (Vernon, BC) in the semifinals of the 2011 World Financial Group Classic in Calgary, Alberta; and won 6-3 over Dean Ross (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 World Financial Group Classic in Calgary, Alberta;
 
Virtue finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Virtue lost 6-4 to Mike Libbus (Calgary, AB), then responded with a 6-4 win over Steve Mackey (Calgary, AB). Virtue won 7-4 against Matt Lemna (Airdrie, AB), then won 7-2 against Scott Egger (Brooks, AB) and 6-2 against Appelman in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the World Financial Group Classic Championship title, Virtue earned 10.950 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 18th place overall with 102.005 total points. Virtue ranks 15th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 45.725 points earned so far this season.
