David Hamblin (Morris, MB) qualified for the 2011 Ken Kurbis Memorial Galaxy Open Bonspiel playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-1 against Scott Madams (Winnipeg, MB).
 
Hamblin finished 4-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hamblin defeated Rob Atkins (Winnipeg, MB) 5-3, then went on to lose 5-4 against Trimble (Winnipeg, MB). Hamblin responded with a 4-2 win over Kelly Lauber (Winnipeg, MB). Hamblin won 8-3 against Rick Moreton (Winnipeg, MB), then won 7-0 against Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
