To advance to the championship game, Smith won 6-5 over Aiden Proctor (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2011 Leduc Canadian Tire Competitive Junior in Leduc, Alberta; and won 7-3 over Jordan Steinke (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 Leduc Canadian Tire Competitive Junior in Leduc, Alberta;
 
Smith finished 2-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Tristan Thiessen (Lethbridge, AB) 7-2, then went on to lose 3-1 against Reed Sutton (Edmonton, AB). Smith responded with a 7-4 win over Dylan Gousseau (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
