McEwen finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Josh Heidt (Kerrobert, SK) 6-3, then won 7-3 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) and 7-2 against Stoughton in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Whites Drug Store Classic Championship title, McEwen earned 24.300 world rankings points along with the $12,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 2nd place overall with 322.110 total points.
