Mary Mattatall (Halifax, NS) lost 7-6 to Heather Smith-Dacey (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the Nova Scotia Scotties, held January 25 - 29, 2012 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. To advance to the championship game, Mattatall won 7-5 over Colleen Pinkney (Truro, NS) in the semifinals of the 2012 Nova Scotia Scotties in Halifax, Nova Scotia;
 
Mattatall finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mattatall defeated Kelly MacIntosh (Dartmouth, NS) 8-7, then won 7-2 against Mary-Anne Arsenault (Halifax, NS) and 7-6 against Pinkney. Mattatall went on to lose 9-8 against Smith-Dacey. Mattatall responded with a 7-6 win over Coralie Duchemin (Sydney, NS). Mattatall won 11-3 against Jocelyn Nix (Kentville, NS). Mattatall went on to lose 7-6 against Sarah Rhyno (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Nova Scotia Scotties, Mattatall take home 2.500 world rankings points. For week 24 of the event schedule, Mattatall did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Mattatall ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
