After advancing directly to the championship game, Meaghan Hughes (Charlottetown, PEI) lost 6-4 to Kim Dolan (Charlottetown, PEI) in the Final of the PEI Scotties, held January 20 - 23, 2012 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
 
Hughes finished 4-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hughes defeated Tammy Dewar (Montague, PEI) 11-3, then went on to lose 6-5 against Dolan. Hughes responded with a 10-6 win over Sarah Fullerton (Charlottetown, PEI). Hughes won 9-8 against Donna Butler (Charlottetown, PEI), then won 7-4 against Suzanne Birt (Charlottetown, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
. For week 23 of the event schedule, Hughes did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Hughes ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
