Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN) finished 6-5 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Liu defeated Jiri Snitil (Brno, CZE) 9-5, then went on to lose 7-6 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Liu responded with a 7-4 win over Jan Hauser (GC R+B, SUI). Liu won 7-6 against Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidore, DEN), then won 7-5 against Heath McCormick (New York, USA) and 8-2 against Thomas Dufour (Chamonix, FRA). Liu went on to lose 7-6 against Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO). Liu lost 7-5 to Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) where Liu responded with a 7-6 win over Johnny Jahr (Fuessen, GER). Liu went on to lose 6-4 against Peter De Boer (Naseby, NZL). Liu lost 8-7 to Glenn Howard (Coldwater, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.

Liu earned 12.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Liu move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 11.475 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 29th overall with 78.906 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Liu ranks 23rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 50.040 points earned so far this season.
