Martin finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated Colin Griffith (Grande Prairie, AB) 6-1, then won 8-3 against Jordan Steinke (Dawson Creek, BC) and 9-3 against Greg Hill (Grande Prairie, AB). Martin won 7-2 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK), then won 4-1 against Brock Virtue (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
