Peter Mellor (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) won 7-5 over Wayne Tuck Jr. (Toronto, ON) in the Final of the Port Elgin Superspiel, held January 20 - 22, 2012 in Port Elgin, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Mellor won 10-1 over Kate Hamer (Port Elgin, ON) in the semifinals
 
Mellor finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mellor defeated Dan Rivett (Port Elgin, ON) 7-3, then won 6-0 against Duncan McLean (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON). Mellor went on to lose 7-5 against Hamer. Mellor responded with a 5-4 win over Len Rominger (Niagara Falls, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Port Elgin Superspiel Championship title, Mellor earned 0.000 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 23 of the event schedule, Mellor did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Mellor ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
