To advance to the championship game, Muirhead won 8-4 over Jackie Lockhart (Edinburgh, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2012 Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Championship in Perth, Scotland;

Muirhead finished 6-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Muirhead defeated Jennifer Martin (Killmarnock, SCO) 11-6, then won 7-4 against Hannah Fleming (Perth, SCO) and 9-3 against Kerry Barr (Perth, SCO). Muirhead went on to lose 5-4 against Lockhart. Muirhead responded with a 6-5 win over Gina Aitken (Edinburgh, SCO). Muirhead won 11-4 against Gail Munro (Stranraer, SCO), then won 10-4 against Jennifer Dodds (Edinburgh, SCO). Muirhead went on to lose 7-5 against Sarah Reid (Glasgow, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Championship Championship title, Muirhead earned 4.320 world rankings points, remaining in 11th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 154.653 total points. Muirhead ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 97.845 points earned so far this season.
