Miranda Solem (Cohasset, MN) lost 10-8 to Cory Christensen (Duluth, MN) in the Final of the US Junior Nationals, held January 28 - February 4, 2012 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Solem finished 6-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Solem defeated Abigayle Lindgren (Grand Forks, ND) 7-4, then won 9-5 against Emily Walker (Sudbury, MA) and 9-3 against Shelby Sweet (Everett, WA). Solem went on to lose 8-7 against Vicky Persinger (Fairbanks, AK). Solem responded with a 8-5 win over Jenna Haag (Milton, WI). Solem went on to lose 7-5 against Christensen. Solem responded with a 5-4 win over Hannah Ely (Penfield, NY). Solem went on to lose 8-7 against Rachel Tharalson (Hoople, ND). Solem responded with a 8-7 win over Becca Hamilton (McFarland, WI) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the US Junior Nationals, Solem take home 5.000 world rankings points, moving up 43 spots the World Ranking Standings into 110th place overall with 8.475 total points. Solem ranks 89th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.000 points earned so far this season.
