Kakela won 6-5 against Tony Wright (Duluth, MN), then won 6-5 against Blake Morton (McFarland, WI) and 6-5 against Ryan Flippo (Fairbanks, AK). Kakela went on to lose 9-2 against Evan Jensen (Medford, WI) in their final qualifying round match.
