Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) qualified for the 2012 Cactus Pheasant Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). of the 2012 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;

Laycock finished 5-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Laycock lost 7-5 to Charley Thomas (Calgary, AB), then responded with a 7-3 win over Chang-Min Kim (Gyeongbuk Uiseong, KOR). Laycock won 6-5 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN), then won 7-3 against Thomas Ulsrud (oslo, NOR). Laycock went on to lose 8-2 against Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB). Laycock responded with a 8-4 win over Jim Cotter (Kelowna/Vernon, BC). Laycock won 7-4 against Scott Egger (Brooks, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Laycock earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Cactus Pheasant Classic, moving up 6 spots the World Ranking Standings into 23rd place overall with 69.886 total points. Laycock ranks 20th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 30.000 points earned so far this season.
