Cotter went on to lose 6-4 against Sweden's Niklas Edin. Cotter responded with a 5-4 win over Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB). Cotter went on to lose 8-4 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
