Laycock finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Laycock lost 6-3 to Jeff Stoughton (winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 6-5 win over Mike Libbus (Calgary, AB). Laycock won 8-2 against Todd Birr (Mankato, MN), then won 8-3 against Randy Woytowich (Saskatoon, SK) and 5-3 against Jim Cotter (Kelowna/Vernon, BC). Laycock went on to lose 5-4 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Laycock responded with a 5-4 win over Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Laycock earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Point Optical Curling Classic, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 22nd place overall with 54.886 total points. Laycock ranks 15th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.000 points earned so far this season.
