In their opening game, Shuster lost 8-7 to Scott Bitz (Regina, SK), droppimg another game, 7-6 to Peter de Cruz (Geneve, SUI) where Shuster responded with a 6-3 win over Kevin Marsh (Saskatoon, SK). Shuster won 7-5 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 5-3 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) and 7-3 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Shuster earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Point Optical Curling Classic, moving up 42 spots the World Ranking Standings into 44th place overall with 25.200 total points. Shuster ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.000 points earned so far this season.
