Coutts advanced through the quarterfinals with a 5-4 win over Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). of the 2012 Horizon Laser Vision Center Classic in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada;

Coutts finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Coutts defeated Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) 8-1, then won 7-3 against Clint Krismer (Regina, SK). Coutts went on to lose 4-3 against Dejia Zou (Harbin, CHN). Coutts lost 5-1 to Liu where Coutts responded with a 7-2 win over Michelle Englot (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.

Coutts earned 1.950 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Horizon Laser Vision Center Classic, moving up 13 spots the World Ranking Standings into 95th place overall with 9.638 total points. Coutts ranks 69th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.950 points earned so far this season.
