In their opening game, Menard defeated Matt Dumontelle (Sudbury, NONT) 7-2, then won 5-4 against Mike Bryson (Toronto, ON) and 6-3 against Michael Fournier (Montreal, PQ). Menard went on to lose 6-1 against Philippe Lemay (Trois-Rivieres, PQ). Menard responded with a 7-6 win over Bonot in their final qualifying round match.
