Lene Nielsen (Hvidovre, DEN) lost 6-4 to Bingyu Wang (Harbin, CHN) in the Final of the Valley First Crown of Curling, held October 19 - 22, 2012 at the Kamloops Curling Club in Kamloops, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Nielsen won 6-4 over Eun Jung Kim ( Gyeongbuk Uiseong,, KOR) in the semifinals of the 2012 Valley First Crown of Curling in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada; and won 8-3 over Marla Mallett (Cloverdale, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Valley First Crown of Curling in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada;
 
Nielsen finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Nielsen defeated Simone Groundwater (Williams Lake, BC) 8-4, then went on to lose 7-4 against Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB). Nielsen lost 8-1 to Desiree Schmidt (Castlegar, BC) where Nielsen responded with a 7-6 win over Kristie Moore (Grande Prairie, AB). Nielsen won 5-2 against Roberta Kuhn (Vernon, BC), then won 8-1 against Yilun Jiang (Harbin, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Valley First Crown of Curling, Nielsen take home 3.850 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, remaining in 31st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 40.105 total points. Nielsen ranks 57th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 3.850 points earned so far this season.
