Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC) lost 9-2 to Jay Wakefield (New Westminster, BC) in the Final of the Vancouver Island Shootout, held November 9 - 12, 2012 at the Victoria Curling Club in Victoria, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Dangerfield won 5-4 over Brady Clark (Seattle, WA) in the semifinals of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; and won 8-4 over Mike Wood (Victoria, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;
 
Dangerfield finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dangerfield defeated Wood 5-4, then won 6-2 against Wes Craig (Victoria, BC). Dangerfield went on to lose 8-1 against Wakefield. Dangerfield responded with a 7-4 win over Jay Tuson (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Vancouver Island Shootout, Dangerfield take home 1.750 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN prize, moving up 27 spots the World Ranking Standings into 140th place overall with 6.675 total points. Dangerfield ranks 96th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.500 points earned so far this season.
