Jason Montgomery (Duncan, BC) qualified for the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-5 against Andrew Bilesky (Vancouver , BC). of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;
 
Montgomery finished 4-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Montgomery defeated Tyler Klymchuk (Vancouver, BC) 7-3, then went on to lose 9-8 against Brady Clark (Seattle, WA). Montgomery lost 10-4 to British Columbia's Jody Epp where Montgomery responded with a 8-3 win over Klymchuk. Montgomery won 5-3 against Ken McArdle (New Westminster, BC), then won 8-4 against Jay Tuson (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Montgomery earned 0.750 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Vancouver Island Shootout, moving up 17 spots the World Ranking Standings into 223rd place overall with 2.481 total points. Montgomery ranks 197th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 0.750 points earned so far this season.
