Roberta Kuhn (Vernon, BC) won 5-3 over Heather Jensen (Airdrie, AB) in the Final of the Vancouver Island Shootout, held November 9 - 12, 2012 at the Victoria Curling Club in Victoria, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Kuhn won 6-0 over Ayumi Ogasawara (Kariuzawa, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; and won 4-3 over Marilou Richter (New Westminster, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;
Kuhn finished 5-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kuhn lost 7-0 to Kalia Van Osch (Nanaimo, BC), then responded with a 10-4 win over Lindsay Makichuk (Edmonton, AB). Kuhn went on to lose 7-4 against Brandi Tinkler (Victoria, BC). Kuhn responded with a 8-3 win over Stephanie Prinse (Chilliwack, BC). Kuhn won 11-3 against Sarah Koltun (Whitehorse, YK), then won 9-2 against Lynne Noble (Victoria, BC) and 5-4 against Tinkler in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Vancouver Island Shootout Championship title, Kuhn earned 2.500 world rankings points along with the $4,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 41 spots the World Ranking Standings into 132nd place overall with 3.649 total points. Kuhn ranks 85th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.750 points earned so far this season.
