Marilou Richter (New Westminster, BC) qualified for the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 4-3 against Roberta Kuhn (Vernon, BC). of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;

Richter finished 4-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Richter lost 7-3 to Nicole Montgomery (New Westminster, BC), then responded with a 10-2 win over Stephanie Prinse (Chilliwack, BC). Richter won 5-4 against Heather Jensen (Airdrie, AB), then won 5-3 against Lynne Noble (Victoria, BC) and 8-3 against Adina Tasaka (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

Richter earned 0.750 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Vancouver Island Shootout, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 112th place overall with 4.955 total points. Richter ranks 97th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.000 points earned so far this season.
