Steffen R. Mellemseter (Oslo, NOR) 5-4, then went on to lose 6-5 against Sweden's Rasmus Wrana. Gulbis responded with a 6-0 win over Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidovre, DEN). Gulbis went on to lose 7-5 against Glen Muirhead (Perth, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
