Liu finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Liu defeated Jim Cotter (Kelowna/Vernon, BC) 5-4, then won 6-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) and 5-3 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Pomeroy Inn & Suites Prairie Showdown Championship title, Liu earned 25.060 world rankings points along with the $15,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 22nd place overall with 105.995 total points. Liu ranks 21st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 54.930 points earned so far this season.
