In their opening game, Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson defeated Latvia's Iveta Stasa-Sarsune 7-4, then won 11-2 against Muirhead and 9-8 against Erika Brown (Madison, USA). Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson won 9-0 against Silvana Tirinzoni (Aarau, SUI), then won 5-4 against Denmark's Lene Nielsen.
