Hackner finished 5-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hackner defeated North Dakota's Scott Brown 6-3, then won 4-3 against Kevin Kakela (Rolla, ND) and 6-4 against John Shuster (Duluth, MN). Hackner won 6-4 against Kyle Doering (Winnipeg, MB), then won 9-1 against Randy Baird (Bemidji, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Bernick's Miller Lite Open Championship title, Hackner earned 3.500 world rankings points along with the $3,995CDN first prize cheque, moving up 31 spots the World Ranking Standings into 110th place overall with 9.435 total points. Hackner ranks 89th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 3.500 points earned so far this season.
